Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Recap collects, uses, and handles your information during the private alpha period.

1. Information We Collect

   Account information, including your name, email address, and credentials used to sign in. Usage data, including interactions with the service, device information, IP address, and session logs. User-generated content, including messages, conversation data, and anything else you create in the service. Feedback, including comments, suggestions, and bug reports you submit.

2. How We Use Your Information

   We use collected information to operate, maintain, and improve the service, conduct alpha testing, debugging, and analytics, communicate with you about the alpha program, and enforce our service terms. When you connect a mailbox, Recap scans its messages to identify other accounts you may use, including other email addresses and messaging services, and may suggest connecting them. These suggestions are shown only to you.

3. Sharing of Information

   We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who assist in operating the service, as required by law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale. These include Google Cloud (hosting and storage), Nylas and Unipile (mailbox and messaging connections), OpenAI (message summarization), Resend (transactional email), and Sentry and Firebase (crash reporting and analytics in the mobile app).

4. Data Protection

   We protect your information using industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls that limit data access to authorized personnel and systems, and logging and monitoring of access to sensitive data. Data obtained from connected accounts, including message content, is used only to provide user-facing features of the service and is never used for advertising.

   Recap's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Data Retention

   We retain your messages and related data while your account is active. Trashed messages are permanently deleted after 30 days. Deleting your account removes all your data from our systems; residual copies may persist in backups for up to 14 days. You may disconnect a linked account at any time. Disconnecting stops new messages from that account and removes the connection. Messages already imported remain in your Recap account until you delete them or delete your account. Account suggestions derived from a connected mailbox are kept until you remove that connection or delete your account. Because Recap is in alpha, data may be deleted, reset, or lost at any time without notice.

6. Third-Party Services

   The service may contain links to or integrations with third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services.

7. Your Choices

   You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting support@recapmessage.com. Residual copies may persist in backups for up to 14 days before deletion.

8. Changes to This Policy

   We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
